The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak from the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019

Signal-caller Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws

Victory increases the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after dropping to a 2-8 mark

The visitors had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to cap the New York's initial series

But the Patriots fought back in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7

"That was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of the rookie. "He desires to be outstanding."

Justin Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots wrapped up the victory
